“I’m 21 years old, North London raised artist with both Brazilian and Turkish heritage. I speak four languages (English, Turkish, Portuguese and Spanish). Coming from a movement background I am trained in multiple disciplines, as well as being a singer songwriter. Not to mention, I’m a massive fashion nerd who also collects Betty Boop keyrings.”
What did you choose to perform for the Spotlight Prize and why did you pick it?
I chose a piece called Half by Eleanor Nawal. I found it at a friends scratch night and I loved the how funny and relatable it is. It speaks to a much bigger subject whilst maintaining its lightness in tone which I rarely find in pieces surrounding topics of ethnicity. That’s what really excited me to do the piece.
What’s your dream role?
I would say Sally Bowles in Cabaret. It’s been one of my favourite films for as long as I can remember and since it got put on the West End, I got to see it live! A definite pinch me moment.
What kind of performer do you aspire to be?
One of my favourite performers is Jessie Buckley. I think she has an admirable approach to her work as well as being incredibly multifaceted.

What have you recently watched, read or listened to that inspired you?
The Bear (season two) has just recently come out and it’s one of the most unique shows I’ve seen. Very hard to pin it down to just one genre and stylistically it’s a beautiful watch.
