Spotlight profile

I am 20 years old, and currently living at home in Manchester with my dad and the family dog, Buddie, who’s known as the BFG (Big Friendly Giant). I am very much a family person and spend as much of my free time as I can with my family. One of my favourite things to do is taking my grandad out for coffee and cake! I am currently working part-time at Subway and have a very good work ethic. I am aware when the going gets tough I have to crack on with it, and that’s always been my attitude and character towards working, being brought up with an independent hard-working father, I think I have had a very good example set. I love anything outdoorsy or with nature. Anything that involves a good walk and coffee, I’m there!”

What kind of actor do you aspire to be?

A successful and happy one. Just one who’s always gaining experience, learning, and developing my skills to continue my career.

What performance piece did you choose for the showcase and why?

I chose Leanne’s monologue from Stiletto Beach by Sadie Hasler. I’d never heard about this play until it got recommended to me by a friend and after reading it, I completely felt a connection to the piece. This particular character resonated with me instantly; a woman with a lot of frustrations and hurt towards her life experiences but doesn’t let her guard down to show the genuine hurt and emotions she feels, but instead, she portrays herself as a bubbly and confident character so no-one can see the real feelings she has in situations. I thought this piece portrayed these emotions to a tee.

What book, theatre, film or TV production has most inspired you?

I couldn’t name a particular one. I am a big series watcher of BBC and ITV dramas. I just love anything gritty that grabs me in and completely takes my mind off the outside world for the time that I am watching.

How do you keep creative?

I just keep myself busy and active! I’m very big on self-care so there are plenty of gym sessions, walks and baking classes with myself. Of course, I watch and see as much as I can and try to network as much as possible. I’m a very easy person, so I love meeting and talking to new people.

What is the dream role you’d love to play?

Oh, there are a few… but I have to say my all-time favourite character and series is Georgie from Our Girl on BBC. I couldn’t explain why, I just absolutely fell in love with that role and particular series from the moment I watched it and have never shut about it since. It would be an absolute dream to experience the making of a series like that.

What do you hope to be doing this time next year?

Having studied all the way through from college to drama school, I would now like to experience life outside of education and studying. It’s been an amazing ride and I’ve learnt and overcome so much from the past years, but I’m ready to live a little! Discover new hobbies, visit new places, meet new people, learn new skills… I know this will open so many windows for me, I’ll learn life experiences that hopefully will benefit me in my acting career. I would love to get the opportunity to put my training into action and work, whether that be TV, film or theatre; I hope to experience it all and at least get the opportunity to get a taste of the industry I hope to have a successful career in.
